Melinda’s Ultimate Spiced Hot Chocolate

Melinda, Marketing Manager, is regularly found with coffee in hand. But for a special treat, she loves a delicious hot chocolate. This is her Ultimate Spiced Hot Chocolate recipe that is quick and easy to make. When it comes to the ultimate indulgence, this spiced hot chocolate recipe is the perfect winter warmer.   • 3 cups milk
  • 150gm Lindt chocolate flakes (extra for serving)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon All Spice
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • Whipped cream (to serve)
  • Mini marshmallows (to serve)


  1. Heat in a saucepan the milk and the spices until it reaches boiling point (do not let the milk boil).
  2. Add the hot chocolate flakes and whisk until smooth.
  3. Remove from the heat and let rest for 25 minutes to release the spices aromas.
  4. Strain the liquid and reheat before serving.
  5. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream, extra chocolate flakes and mini marshmallows.

If you want to make this spiced hot chocolate recipe in the microwave, heat the milk on full for 120 seconds and remove it before it starts to boil. Leave spices to infuse and continue with the rest of the recipe as above.
