5 Lands Walk and Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific

On Saturday the 23rd June 2018, Central Coast residents and visitors alike are invited to participate in the iconic 5 Lands Walk. Rapidly becoming a well known festival on the Central Coast, the 5 Lands Walk allows participants to enjoy the spectacular scenery along the 10km coastal walking track, beginning at McMasters beach and concluding at Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific.

More than simply a scenic walk, the 5 Lands Walk is an all day festival that aims to connect people to the local communities and landscape. Along the trail and at each of the five stops, walkers can enjoy food, live music and dance from multi-cultural communities. With a strong focus on local talent and connection, the festival will include highlights such as art and photo exhibitions, sculptures on the beach and aboriginal ceremonies.

The 5 Lands Walk Event is proudly held on the traditional lands of the Darkinjung people and there is a strong appreciation and acknowledgement of the Aboriginal people and their contribution to the 5 Lands Walk. The Aboriginal people are deeply involved in the 5 Lands Walk event and during the day will share their stories and explain the cultural and spiritual significance of the 5 lands in an effort to help participants understand their connection to the land.

Taking inspiration from the 5 Lands Walk motto of “connecting people to people and people to places” the Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific commissioned a mural celebrating the 5 Lands Walk at the hotels entrance. The eye-catching mural is a collaborative work of local artist Paul Haggith, Indigenous artist Kevin Gavi Duncan and assistant artist Simon Sawell.

Representing important aspects of the 5 Lands Walk, the mural depicts the different beaches of the 5 lands, the natural environment of the beach and ocean and the walkers and the volunteers that make the walk happen. With strong themes of community and belonging, the mural welcomes guests to Terrigal. Click here for further information on what the 5 Lands Walk Mural Depicts: 5 Lands Walk Mural

One of the main visions for the 5 Lands Walk is that it will become a permanent attraction for the area rather than just a one day festival, with available for people to do at anytime. As a major sponsor of the festival, Crowne Plaza Terrigal Pacific hopes that the 5 Lands Walk Mural will assist in this vision by inspiring guests to enjoy and explore the local area.
